Dairyland Seed Announces Yieldmaster Contest Winners

January 22, 2007

West Bend, WI—Dairyland Seed recently announced the National and State winners for its annual Corn and Soybean Yieldmaster Contests

The title of National Corn Yieldmaster was awarded to Doug and Dan Bush of Fulton, IL. Doug and Dan had a yield of 295.63 bushels per acre with Stealth-1706. Loras McQuillen of Holy Cross, IA, was awarded National Soybean Yieldmaster with a yield of 78.92 bushels per acre with DSR-234/RR. The Early Zone Soybean Yieldmaster was awarded to Schmitt Bros., Inc. of Fountain City, WI, with a yield of 76.53 bushels per acre with DSR-199/RR, and the Early Zone Corn Yieldmaster was awarded to John Worm of Young America, Minnesota, who entered Stealth-1600 with a yield of 227.17 bushels. Individual state winners were also awarded as follows:

Iowa Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Loras McQuillen of Holy Cross (78.92 bu/a. with DSR-234/RR); and second place Ed Heiderscheit of Peosta (72.94 bu/a. with DSR-234/RR).

Illinois Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Doug Bush of Fulton (295.63 bu/a. with Stealth-1706); second place, Tom Imel of Chadwick (254.21 bu/a. with Stealth-5014); and third place, Del & Charles Olsen of Richmond (237.60 bu/a. with Stealth-6009).

Illinois Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Wayne Schultz, Jr. of Stockton (74.42 bu/a. with DSR-234/RR).

Indiana Corn Yieldmasters: Bob Wyss of Ossian (222 bu/a. with Stealth-1612); second place, E & M Farms of Ft. Wayne (214 bu/a. with Stealth-1615); and third place went to Gerald Campbell of Winamac (211.6 bu/a. with Stealth-1615).

Indiana Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, J. B. Ladd of Bunker Hill (70.90 bu/a. with DSR-221/RR); second place, P.J. Garriott of Attica (65.3 bu/a. with DSR-385/RR); and third place went to Mike Heckber of Ossian (63.6 bu/a. with DSR-2702/RRSTS).

Michigan Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Tom & Ryan Scharer (Scharer Farms), of Adrian (257.7 bu/a. with Stealth-7010); second place, Van Litwiller of Ithaca (218.17 bu/a. with Stealth-7196); and third place went to Ruczynski Farms of Ray (217.56 bu/a. with Stealth-5201).

Michigan Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Krafft Farms of Frankenmuth (74.55 bu/a. with DSR-2600/RR); second place, Van Driessche Farms of Bay City (71.77 bu/a. with DSR-234/RR); and third place, David Jacobs of New Lothrop (69.3 bu/a. with DSR-234/RR).

Minnesota Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Ron Regenscheid, of St. Peter (249.2 bu/a. with Stealth-5204); second place, Mark LeGare of Lafayette (243.96 bu/a. with Stealth-5104); and third place went to John and Linda Worm of Young America (227.17 bu/a. with Stealth-1600).

Minnesota Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Mark LeGare of Lafafyette (68.9 bu/a. with DSR-234/RR), and second place, Ron Regenscheid of St. Peter (59.10 bu/a. with DSR-1700/STS).

Ohio Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Robert Meyer of Napoleon (222.66 bu/a. with Stealth-5007); and second place, Schlemmer Farms of Convoy (194.0 bu/a. with Stealth-1615).

North Dakota Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Hagert Seed of Emerado (204.0 bu/a. with Stealth-5475); and second place went to David Larson of Buffalo (201.2 bu/a. with Stealth-7194).

North Dakota Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Thomas Geffre of Crete (56.4 bu/a. with DSR-091/RR).

South Dakota Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Ryan Knutson, of Canton (194.0 bu/a. with Stealth-9201); second place Tim Mattaei of Salem (188.23 bu/a. with Stealth-5497); and third place went to Richard Helgeson of Roslyn (187.8 bu/a. with Stealth-1497).

South Dakota Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Jim Aasheim of Canton (78.3 bu/a. with DSR-2600/RR); second place, Ryan Knutson of Canton (67.07 bu/a. with DSR-2600/RR); and third place, Bill and Eric Mueller of Big Stone City (62.33 bu/a. with DSR-1301/RR).

Wisconsin Corn Yieldmasters: First place, Doug Brander, of Spring Green (247.35 bu/a. with Stealth-6006); second place, Robert Nielsen of Lake Mills (231.51 bu/a. with Stealth-1606/RR); and third place went to Terry Engen of Brodhead (223.33 bu/a. with Stealth-4606).

Wisconsin Soybean Yieldmasters: First place, Schmitt Bros., Inc. of Fountain City (76.53 bu/a. with DSR-199/RR); second place went to Trayton Greenfield of Waupun (72.57 bu/a. with DSR-184/RRSTS); and third place, Doug Brander of Spring Green (72.35 bu/a. with DSR-234/RR).

According to Tom Strachota, CEO, “These are fabulous yields from outstanding producers. Our goal is to develop improved genetics because I know these producers have the capability of hitting even higher yield levels. With 15% of our revenues invested in research, I’m confident that together we can accomplish this goal.”

Dairyland Seed is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2007. Dairyland spends 15% of its revenues on plant breeding and is the only family-held seed company with breeding in hybrid corn, alfalfa and soybeans.

Dairyland Seed names Kim Mayne as Vice President of Production
May 11, 2006, West Bend, WI

Dairyland Seed has named Kim Mayne to the newly created position of Vice President of Production.

“This is a major growth step for Dairyland Seed,” said Tom Strachota, CEO of Dairyland Seed. “Kim has been an integral part of the Dairyland Seed hybrid corn team, and we are excited that he has accepted this new position.”

Mayne will have full responsibility over all crop production and supervise production managers for alfalfa, soybeans and corn.

Mayne joined Dairyland Seed as a member of the warehouse staff at Mt. Hope, Wis., in the fall of 1981, and became the Warehouse and Shipping Manager in 1982. He also served as a District Sales Manager. Since 1993 he has served as the Hybrid Corn Production Manager. Mayne will be based out of the Mt. Hope location.

“I am excited to help lead Dairyland Seed into the future,” Mayne said. “I will work to improve operating efficiencies and productivity, and to develop better internal and external communication.”

Mayne is proud to work for a family owned company such as Dairyland Seed. “The future is bright for Dairyland, with their commitment to research, quality assurance and customer service. I am proud to be part of this management team,” he said.
