| Semi-load of Hybrid Alfalfa Won at PDPW Annual Business Conference
|

March 20, 2006 - West Bend, Wis.
Rosly Bragger was all smiles at the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin Annual Business Conference. That’s because the twelve-year old was the winner of a semi-trailer load of HybriForce-400 hybrid alfalfa, the grand prize drawing sponsored by Dairyland Seed Co., Inc.
“She was so excited,” said her father, Joe Bragger. “She hasn’t stopped chattering since.”
The semi was shipped from Dalhart, Texas, for the event. The 196 Relative Feed Value made it enticing to show attendees. “We wanted to relieve the stress on a farmer who had a shortage of hay supply due to last spring’s winterkill,” said Derry Abraham, alfalfa product manager for Dairyland Seed.
“The PDPW Annual Conference was the perfect event, because it brings in high quality producers from not only Wisconsin but other states as well. It is a very strong, producer-oriented organization,” Abraham said. “Its members represent the future of dairying.”
The Braggers farm near Independence, Wis. They milk 180 cows on their parlor/ freestall operation, finish out a number of steers, and raise 32,000 pullets for Golden Plump each year.
The Braggers also raise 350 to 400 acres of alfalfa every year.
This was the first year the Braggers attended the PDPW Annual Business Conference, and the Dairyland Seed booth was the first place they stopped.
“We walked in the doors, smelled that hay and went right on over,” he explained. “They hardly had the drawing box out yet.”
The Braggers are very appreciative of this prize, and will put the alfalfa to good use.
“We’d like to thank Dairyland Seed and everyone involved. This is very exciting for Rosly, and for our whole family,” he said. “We also would like to thank PDPW for this wonderful conference. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn, exchange ideas and network with other producers.”
